We work with a range of different sized businesses that often face the same challenge - how to generate content!

It’s no different for us here at Wider, we face the same issues; we’re always trying to come up with new ways to inform clients about the services we offer and what we are developing in our Solihull design studio.

The two challenges that face all business are:

Finding new clients
Retaining existing clients
Unfortunately, these two things take time and commitment, there is no quick-fix magic formula; as we know, Rome wasn’t built in a day!

What we’ve discovered by talking to our clients is that there’s many small things that any business can do on a weekly basis that built up over time to address these two challenges… it’s called content marketing.

So what is content marketing?

In a nutshell, it’s producing and sharing valuable information about what you do as a business. The type of information you create and share should be closely related to the products or services you sell, helping to educate people, build a rapport and build trust.

Build awareness of your services

Content marketing is not promotional or sales orientated, it’s intended to build awareness. Ultimately, you should be authoring useful, informative content.

And there’s more good news. Anyone can create content and the benefits to your business can be substantial.

Content marketing will help you with the following:

find new clients and keep the ones you already have.
help with your SEO rankings as Google loves fresh, original content.
establish you as an authority in your field.
build better relationships with your current clients and target audience.
share the story of your business, helping to build your brand.
good use of your marketing budget, content marketing is often cheaper than more traditional forms of advertising.

How to get the best results

For the best long term results, try to ensure your content is:

High quality and relevant
Useful and engaging, not just sales focused
Easily shareable across social media
Targeted – do you want to come across as authoritative and formal or friendly and approachable?

Make the content work harder for you

One great way to make your content work harder for you is to repurpose it in various other formats. In other words, use the same ideas to republish across different pieces of content. As an example you could create several blog posts on a particular topic, then create a short e-book containing the main points from your blog posts, then publish some of the highlights across social media channels.

It’s a time saving exercise to really make your ideas heard via several different channels.
